To apply for your FIRST MEMBERSHIP for 2026, CLICK HERE. To RE-JOIN, CLICK HERE and log in. After reading the BDFPA Drug Control and Data Protection policies, you will be guided through the application process. NOTE that 2026 membership expires on 31 DECEMBER 2026.
TO APPLY FOR 2026 BDFPA CLUB AFFILIATION: if you are already a BDFPA member, CLICK HERE and then use the Login link at the top of the page. This will take you to the membership page. The 2026 Club affiliation link is at the bottom of the membership page. Club affiliation is £75.00 per calendar year. You must have a personal membership to apply for Club Affiliation; this can be a non-lifting membership, which is free of charge. Apply for membership as above.

° Teen/Student Individual: £25.00 (Age 14 to 19, and students. If aged 20 or over, please send a scan of a student card / other evidence to the Membership Team.)

MEMBERS OF AFFILIATED CLUBS & POLICE

SPECIAL NON-LIFTING MEMBERSHIP FOR BDFPA OFFICIALS, AFFILIATED CLUB MANAGERS AND ALL COACHES
° Official (Non-lifting) Membership: No charge
If you are a current BDFPA member, and have a reason not to lift in the upcoming calendar year, you can renew with a Non-lifting membership. In this case, please contact us at membership@bdfpa.co.uk to let us know about your situation.
FAQs
I HAVE APPLIED! AM I A MEMBER NOW?
Not yet. Your application will be vetted by the National Council as part of drug control procedures. This can take up to two weeks online, or three weeks by post. Online applications received by 12:00 noon on Friday are vetted by the following Friday.
Once an application is vetted and confirmed, the membership starts from the day it was received.
DOES MY MEMBERSHIP LAST A YEAR?
All memberships run from January to December, no matter when in the year you apply.
CAN I ENTER A COMPETITION AS SOON AS I APPLY?
You MUST have applied for membership BEFORE you compete in an event. It is up to you to join or re-join in good time before a competition – see one- to two-week vetting period above. However, if you are confident that you will pass vetting, you can apply for an event before your membership is confirmed, at your own risk of losing your event fee if your application does not pass vetting.
ONCE I’M A MEMBER, CAN I ATTEMPT TO SET A NATIONAL RECORD?
To attempt a national record, you must normally be a member for one month before the attempt. Click here to see the Rule Book for full details. Note too that National records can only be set at National events.

I HAVEN’T GOT A COMPUTER OR A SMARTPHONE. HOW CAN I APPLY?
You can apply by post or email. Postal/email applications normally take up to three weeks to process after they are received. Affiliate as a BDFPA club
Club affiliation costs £75.00 per calendar year. BDFPA affiliated clubs benefit from reduced rates for members – see rates above.
A club manager must be a BDFPA member to apply for club affiliation. This is part of our drug control policy. The manager’s membership can be a free-of-charge Official membership.
